Charlie Kirk
By Ray Ross
Charlie Kirk was an evangelist for Jesus Christ and for the truth and because he was changing so many hearts and minds of our young men and women, he was seen as a threat that had to be removed. Here are some of his notable quotes:
On Jesus Christ: “I gave my life to the Lord in fifth grade, and it’s the most important decision I’ve ever made, and everything I do incorporates Jesus Christ.”
On religion: “No civilization has ever collapsed because it prays too much. But a civilization that abandons God will deteriorate and ultimately collapse from the inside out…” “Without faith, freedom cannot survive. A society without God will always search for something else to worship.”
On the Bible: “What book do you think is best for humanity to live by? I say the Bible. The entire arc of the Bible is a story of love and a need for humanity’s redemption. The Bible has wisdom in ways you might not ever imagine.” “I believe in the Bible, and I believe that Christ rose from the dead on the third day. This is the foundation of my faith.”
On Marriage: “Marriage … is a calling. God didn’t say ‘wait until you feel ready.’ He said, ‘it is not good for man to be alone.’ Get married and have kids. You won’t regret it.”
Charlie stood for the belief that life begins at conception: “You are using dehumanizing language, saying ‘oh it’s an embryo.’ No, that’s a baby, made in the image of God, deserving protection.”
On abortion: “We allow the massacre of a million and a half babies a year under the guise of women’s reproductive health. We are allowing babies to be taken away and discarded every single year… It is worse than the Holocaust.” “There is no such thing as a moral abortion.”
On freedom and responsibility: “With great liberty comes even greater responsibility. If we want to preserve our freedoms, we must be willing to defend them and live with integrity, courage, and conviction.”
Charlie Kirk was a hero to so many teenagers and young adults who heard Charlie communicate truths that resonated with their hearts and souls. My sixteen-year-old granddaughter has been listening to his podcasts every day for years. These young people have had to withstand a constant stream of messages from their teachers, the movies, their music and often their peers that ran counter to their beliefs and values. Charlie often challenged young people to stand up for their values, encouraging them to be bold in both faith and action. For them Charlie was a voice they could rally around. He inspired them. He gave them courage. He was a beacon they could follow. Let’s pray they have the fortitude and the strength to continue down the path he put them on.
Finally, please listen to what Pope Leo had to say about the assassination of Charlie Kirk:
