Worthy Brothers,
Welcome to the June edition of the Cross & Compass. It is hard to believe we are in June already but you sure can tell as it is getting hot outside and many of our fellow brothers have now headed north to stay cool. As we welcome the month of June, I am filled with gratitude for all we have accomplished together this fraternal year. From our charitable drives and community outreach to our faith-centered events, your dedication and brotherhood have truly embodied the principles of the Knights of Columbus: Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism.
June marks the end of our fraternal year and the beginning of a new chapter. Our Council endured a lot this year. Let us all take a moment to pray for our brothers who are no longer with us, especially our Financial Secretary Bill Morris, and let us thank all of those who stepped up to help us get through this year, especially Bill Szyper, and Mark Crews. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our officers, volunteers, and every member who supported our initiatives over the past year. Whether you served pancakes at our monthly breakfast, sold raffle tickets, helped with the Tootsie Roll Drive, Wounded Warrior Dinner, Circle of Life Golf Outing, Italian Night, or helped with a parish event, or simply lent a helping hand, your contributions made a real difference.
As we close out this year, I’d also like to thank our Treasurer Bob Rueger for all of his hard work and dedication to our Council over the past 8 years. Bob, you have been a steady voice and have been an incredible member of the officer team and we all want to say THANK YOU for everything you’ve done. We all love you and Stella!! I’m happy to report that Bob will be helping us during the transition as Mike O’Connell takes over the position of Treasurer. Thanks, Mike, for stepping up and taking up this role in our Council.
June holds special significance in the life of our Church. It is traditionally dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a powerful reminder of Christ’s infinite love and mercy for all humanity. The Feast of the Sacred Heart, which we celebrate this month, calls us to deepen our own love for the Lord and emulate His compassion in our daily lives. As Knights of Columbus, devotion to the Sacred Heart aligns beautifully with our call to charity and brotherly love. I encourage each of you to take time this month to renew your prayer life and reflect on how we can make Christ’s heart known through our actions. As we enter the summer season, let us continue to live out our faith with purpose and passion, keeping our families, parish, and community at the heart of our service. May God bless you and your families, and may our patron, Blessed Michael McGivney, intercede for us all.
I look forward to seeing everyone at our next meeting on June 11th or at Mass. The meeting starts at 5:30 with the Rosary followed by dinner and our general meeting. We will not be having the installation of Officers during our June meeting. The installation has been postponed until July.
Vivat Jesus!
Fraternally your brother,
Rick Kuertz, Grand Knight
