At the last fourth degree meeting of the year held on July 20 Marty was award a pair of golden socks and a certificate to thank him for his months of work on the sock challenge.
Father Jay had challenged the Knights to collect 10,000 pairs of socks to help workers in need and to go along with his 5,000 pair of boots. Marty Reis took on the challenge to lead council 9924 and Assembly 1818 for the collection and purchasing the socks. And thanks to Council 9924, Assembly 1818, and the Council of Catholic Women. The total collected surpassed the goal with a count of 12,285 pairs of socks.
